Akoya pearls
Akoya pearls are smaller than other pearls, ranging from 2mm to 10mm.
Among them 6mm-9mm is common and widely available.
The price is not proportional to the size, but depends on the luster(teri) luster, scratch and winding(maki) pearl thickness.
In particular, baby pearls 2mm-4mm size are traded at high prices because the domestic production is low. And the large 10mm size Akoya pearls are difficult to make and have low production and are scare, so they are expensive.
Generally, about 7mm-8mm is in the mainstream.
South Sea Pearls
South se pearls are large species that can reach more than30mm.
White pearl oysters are the largest type of pearl oysters, so the pearl that are born are also large, some pearls reaching up to 20mm. The typical size is about 8mm-13mm and the highest yield is around 10mm.
Black South Sea Pearls
The common size is about 8mm-15mm, and some pearls reach 18mm.
Black south sea pearls are popular for their volume 10mm or more, so the number of farms that produce large pearls are increasing. Therefore, the size of 8-10mm has been drastically reduced.
